This project began as a re-pointing combined with one thousand eight hundred brick to be replaced on the second floor level of the school. It also included recapping the deteriorated chimneys and caulking of control joints.

After initial investigations it was discovered that one reason for so many brick to be replaced was that the I-beams carrying the second floor trusses were seriously rusted. After consultation with a structural engineer it was determined that the fifty-six foot section of I-beam needed to be reinforced.

This repair involved tearing out enough brick to expose the I-beam completely and have new steel welded to it to reinforce it. Then a proper drainage system for condensate water to be able to escape through weep holes was installed to protect it for the future.
